The Protein Community (TPC) is a platform dedicated to accelerating the global transition to sustainable proteins. Established in 2017 and powered by Foodvalley, TPC connects over 150+ companies from more than 15 countries, including Invest International. As part of this vibrant community, we actively contribute to fostering collaboration and supporting innovative solutions that advance the protein shift.
About The Protein Community
TPC began as a pilot project, the “Groene Eiwitversneller,” bringing together 30 SMEs to test plant protein innovations. Its success, driven by a strong ecosystem of infrastructure, creativity, and diverse stakeholders—ranging from investors to retailers—led to its expansion into an internationally recognized platform. Today, TPC is a hub for start-ups, corporates, ingredient suppliers, research institutes, and food manufacturers, offering tools and resources to help businesses thrive in the alternative protein sector.

The Protein Transition Map NL
One of TPC’s standout initiatives is the Protein Transition Map NL, launched in 2024. This online platform connects over 500 organizations leading the protein transition in the Netherlands, making it an essential resource for anyone working in the alternative protein sector.
The map provides an overview of companies, start-ups, and research institutions driving the protein shift.
The map is more than a directory—it’s a tool for fostering collaboration and innovation across the sector. By highlighting key players and initiatives, it strengthens the ecosystem and helps accelerate the transition to sustainable proteins.
