Early-stage businesses develop with us

Our international financing is tailor-made for Dutch or Dutch-linked start-ups and scale-ups that support the transitions needed for a more sustainable world. We bridge the gap when traditional financiers can’t offer the right support. Early-stage businesses typically use our financing solutions to start or expand operations abroad by investing locally, and for working capital, such as an import transaction.

Our early-stage solutions

Pre-investment support

Get a business ready for our debt financing solutions with this grant, which could be used for a local pilot, or technical or commercial validation of the business plan.

Pre-finance

Short-term loan or working capital to enable a business’s first transaction abroad, for example to finance a first container shipment to the Netherlands.

Start-up investment loan

Long-term loan, typically used to enable businesses to make a foreign direct investment.

Scale-up import finance

Long-term import loan, often as working capital to scale-up the import of sustainable goods from a foreign market.

Equity

For scale-ups, we can co-invest with other parties in equity solutions for the business to support international expansion plans, for example.

Feasibility funding

We help scale-ups mitigate development risk for new products with a proven technology, or when they are entering a new market, for example.

Want sustainable cashews? Check Johnny Cashew’s mission

95% of cashew nuts grown in Africa and consumed in Europe are shelled in Asia, leading to a polluting 12,000-kilometre detour from farm to table. Dutch startup Johnny Cashew has decided to do away with the so-called 'detour cashew' and create the world's first carbon-neutral, fair and transparent cashew chain.

Sevi’s impact: financing and empowering Kenyan small businesses

In emerging markets such as Kenya, kiosks and small shops play a pivotal role in the economy. However, access to financing poses a significant challenge for these small entrepreneurs. Fintech start-up Sevi addresses this gap by providing innovative software to funds and banks in order for these entrepreneurs to purchase inventory on credit. To scale-up Sevi’s high-end API software solution, we co-financed a start-up loan.
