How we support pioneering companies

Global challenges – such as climate change, better access to healthcare, clean drinking water and sustainable food sources – require bold ideas. The world needs ambitious businesses who think outside the box, but despite a solid business plan their projects might be perceived as too risky to attract financing. We can help these companies bridge the financing gap by co-funding feasibility studies that de-risk their propositions and scale their ideas.

We are a trusted partner for Dutch or Dutch-linked businesses – from scale-ups to corporates– with customised financing to develop their individual growth ambitions. We remain by our clients’ side at every stage of the journey.

Our client partnerships

When embarking on a new international venture or pursuing a specific project opportunity, we can:

  1. Strengthen the business case by de-risking it, with feasibility studies, for example.
  2. Provide development capital to unlock new markets internationally and reduce the financial risk.
  3. Share the development risk and require investment back when success is achieved.
  4. Improve eligibility for further financing.

Businesses may be eligible if they have:

A proven solution

You have a project horizon to financial close in two to three years, you have a confirmed customer (group) and your technology is proven, but you still need to test a few assumptions of your business model that will lead to scaling if confirmed.

International growth ambition

Your business is looking to expand a proven solution beyond the Netherlands.

Strong Dutch links

Your company is connected to the Dutch economy through Dutch interest, content or earning capacity.

Difficulties obtaining financing

We co-fund your de-risking activities when there are no other external funding sources available to do so.

Sustainability ethos

Your business creates impact on one or more of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, especially towards creating sustainable economic growth and developing climate resilience.

High ESG ambitions

Before investing, we assess your company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) approach to business and then offer help to manage risks around these and reach ESG standards.

Why giant kelp forests are crucial for carbon storage

The world's population would need 1.7 Earths to support its demands on renewable natural resources. To help restore the planet's balance and combat climate change, Dutch start-up Kelp Blue has created a scalable, nature-based solution: developing, cultivating and processing the yields of giant kelp forests.

Two billion people still lack access to affordable, quality medicines. Dutch SME i+solutions believes that every person in the world deserves access to proper medication and medical supplies. The company wants to use the XS2MEDS solution to make quality drugs available to end users by delivery via private last-mile operators.

Energy

This project brings Dutch solar panels to South Africa

As South Africa's ongoing energy crisis leads to daily outages, the country's 2.500 hours of yearly sunshine offer many opportunities for solar energy to relieve grid pressure. South African company GX Energi aims to source Dutch partner Energyra's semi-fabricated solar panels, assemble them locally, and install them in large-scale projects.
