The European Union has launched the Global Gateway Investment Hub, a new initiative for companies to submit investment proposals that contribute to the EU’s Global Gateway strategy. At the same time, the Netherlands has launched its own Team National, the Dutch entry point supporting companies in preparing and submitting proposals to the Hub. Team National is a partnership between Invest International, RVO, FMO, Atradius Dutch State Business, VNO-NCW and the Dutch government.
The launch took place on February 2nd in the presence of Koen Doens, EU Director-General for International Partnerships (INTPA), together with the Dutch Team National partners. “The EU must invest more globally. We need to create more impact. The private sector can achieve this. Dutch companies are taking a leading role”, says Koen Doens.

Global Gateway & the Investment Hub
Today’s turbulent world calls for an integrated foreign policy from the EU and the Netherlands, one in which diplomacy, trade, and international cooperation reinforce each other. A world built on partnerships where the interests of EU Member States and non‑EU countries come together in large‑scale projects. This strengthens the EU’s global position. That is the essence of the EU’s Global Gateway strategy.
The private sector plays a pivotal role in Global Gateway. Businesses make impact at scale possible impact that benefits EU Member States such as the Netherlands, as well as the non‑EU countries where investments are made, with a specific focus on emerging economies. For this reason, a single-entry point has now been created for companies to submit proposals that contribute to the goals of Global Gateway: the EU Investment Hub.
What the Investment Hub offers
European companies often have promising ideas for investments outside Europe, ideas that benefit EU Member States and the countries in which the investments take place. The new Investment Hub provides a single entry point for companies to submit such proposals.
Through the Hub, companies are guided toward suitable forms of EU support, such as:
- loans
- guarantees
- technical assistance
The Hub operates as a referral mechanism, ensuring proposals reach the right EU instruments. EU Member States make an initial selection of proposals. In the Netherlands, this task lies with Team National.

Dutch Team National
The Netherlands is actively involved in implementing the Global Gateway strategy. Several Dutch companies are already contributing to Global Gateway projects and achieving concrete results. For example, work is underway in Angola on a trade corridor. This allows the EU to tap into new markets, provides European consumers with greater security of supply, and creates local employment opportunities in African countries. In November 2025, DG INTPA Koen Doens sent off the first refrigerated container of avocados from Angola to the EU. Part of the shipment has been processed into high‑quality avocado oil, which DG INTPA received today in The Hague. With this handover, the Dutch Team National for the EU’s Investment Hub has offically been launched.

To support Dutch companies, five organisations have joined forces in Team National:
This team assists companies in developing their proposals and submits them to the EU on their behalf.

How does this work for Dutch companies?
Dutch companies interested in the Global Gateway Investment Hub can find information through the portal of the Dutch Enterprise Agency RVO. Here, companies can also find more information about submitting proposals that Team National will assess for suitability and feasibility in line with EU criteria.
