Project summary
Hydrax Water provides Water-Purification-as-a-Service to residential compounds, enabling Homeowner Associations (HOAs) to offer clean, potable water to their residents without upfront capital or operational expenditures. For each household  a smart meter is installed to manage water access based on prepayments, ensuring affordability and transparency.
Hydrax Water operates as a fully-owned Kenyan subsidiary of Hydrax Water International B.V., and has already launched two operational sites by early 2025. With a growing sales pipeline and valuable lessons learned, the company is poised for further expansion. There is for example strong interest from other African countries like Nigeria and South Africa, the investment in Kenya is the first step towards broader regional expansion in the future.
The partnership with Hydrax Water started with pre-investment support, also through the Dutch Good Growth Fund, to validate the project’s feasibility and impact. With all the groundwork in place, Hydrax Water now enters the second phase and has secured a startup loan to accelerate and scale its operations commercially.
