Project summary
Suncom Energy, a Dutch company founded by Henk Arntz in Houten, is transforming industrial energy consumption with its innovative Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technology. CSP works on the same principle as igniting fire with a magnifying glass. Large, curved mirrors concentrate sunlight onto a tube containing a flowing liquid, efficiently heating it to high temperatures—up to 475°C. This generates a significant reservoir of clean, high-quality thermal energy, offering industries a 24/7 sustainable heat supply.
“This solution is ideal for the processing industry,” says Itske Lulof, Sector Head Energy at Invest International. “Suncom Energy is providing industrial heat on a continuous and reliable basis, with great potential to help Dutch processing industries worldwide reduce emissions and secure sustainable energy supply. Especially for processing industries in countries with unstable grids and/or high and volatile diesel prices.”
Suncom’s modular and adaptable CSP systems can be tailored to meet the specific energy demands of its clients. The technology not only decentralizes energy supply but also helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels, supporting industries on their journey toward a green future.
With financing from the Dutch Trade and Investment Fund (DTIF), Suncom is expanding internationally, starting with Spain. The first installations are focused on the food and beverage industry, where clean heat solutions enable companies to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions while ensuring a reliable energy supply.
