Community health worker Healthy Entrepreneurs in Africa

Project summary

Healthy Entrepreneurs operates an innovative franchise network of over 15.000 Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHE) in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Congo, and Nigeria. The CHEs have already provided 1.5 million families with essential health care products and primary health services in areas that otherwise would be difficult to access.

To support the company’s ambition to reach over 20 million families through a network of 90.000 CHEs, Philips Foundation Impact Investments and Madiro committed to fund around 15 per cent in share capital. We matched their commitment with a €4,5 million loan via the Dutch Good Growth Fund (DGGF), which we manage on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
