Project summary

WelMac’s approach for its 550-hectare farm is to work with nature by adopting regenerative practices such as removing weeds and planting indigenous trees to supply nutrients to pollinators. The company installed a smart irrigation system linked to a solar panel park to reduce water consumption and ensure a larger harvest.

To support Welmac’s growth ambitions and impact goals, such as operating at a CO2-negative level, we provided a €2.75 million loan through the Dutch Good Growth Fund (DGGF), which we manage on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The company used the loan to build a complete solar park and operate independently from the national grid.
