Nurses giving advice in maternity care in Mozambique hospital

Project Summary

The hospital provides a wide range of services including maternity care, neonatal services, emergency and trauma care, and the treatment of endemic diseases such as HIV, TB, and malaria. It also serves as a training facility for local health institutes. As a Level II hospital, it helps filter patients away from more expensive Level III/IV hospitals, making it a cost-effective solution in a resource-constrained setting.

Funded by ORIO, the project was developed through collaboration between Invest International, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and technical support from Dutch and French firms like AMPC and CEDI Europe. The hospital aims to reduce morbidity, disability, and mortality rates in Sofala Province, significantly improving access to quality healthcare for underserved communities.
