IInvesteringsinstelling Invest International verstrekt een ontwikkelingslening van 1 miljoen euro aan het Amsterdamse klimaattechnologiebedrijf Skytree voor de ontwikkeling van een CO\u2082-project in IJsland. Het gaat om de eerste internationale toepassing van Skytree's zogeheten Skypark-concept, waarbij CO\u2082 rechtstreeks uit de lucht wordt gehaald met behulp van duurzame energie. Het bedrijf verwacht dat de faciliteit in IJsland in 2028 operationeel zal zijn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eerste Skypark in IJsland<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

De financiering zal Skytree helpen om zijn \u2018CO\u2082-as-a-Service\u2019-model voor het eerst internationaal uit te breiden en tegelijkertijd een groeiende uitdaging voor de Nederlandse glastuinbouw aan te pakken. Glastuinbouwers zijn voor de plantengroei afhankelijk van CO\u2082, maar traditionele bronnen worden steeds schaarser naarmate industrie\u00ebn koolstofarm worden en de uitstoot op basis van fossiele brandstoffen afneemt. Door CO\u2082 rechtstreeks uit de atmosfeer op te vangen en beschikbaar te stellen waar het nodig is, wil Skytree een duurzaam alternatief bieden voor de sector. Het project moet uitgroeien tot een regionaal productiecentrum voor duurzame CO\u2082, aangedreven door geothermische energie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

De investering past binnen de missie van Invest International om Nederlandse innovatieve technologie internationaal op te schalen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skytree is een Nederlands klimaattechnologiebedrijf dat geavanceerde Direct Air Capture (DAC)-oplossingen ontwikkelt voor het afvangen van CO\u2082 uit de atmosfeer. Het bedrijf bouwt op meer dan tien jaar onderzoek en innovatie, waaronder expertise afkomstig van de Europese Ruimtevaartorganisatie (ESA) en maakt modulaire en schaalbare systemen voor koolstofverwijdering en CO\u2082-hergebruik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
